Alamo PMI Mentoring Program

The Alamo PMI Chapter Mentoring Program provides mentoring opportunities for its current members. This program is a service provided by Alamo PMI Chapter and is designed to encourage and facilitate growth in project management knowledge, professionalism, and skills in alignment with PMI and Alamo Chapter goals.

 

Program at a glance

  • Speed Mentoring
    • Without the pressure of a long period of time commitment, Speed Mentoring helps mentees get actual face time with some of the industry's most brilliant minds and lets mentors share what they know & meet new talent .
    • When:
      • At April Mixer
    • Format:
      • Each speed mentoring session lasts 10 minutes. Total 4 sessions.
      • 1 minute 'changeover' time between each session.
      • Start signal - mentees turn and talk to the mentor on their right.
      • Signal again when there’s 30 seconds left for the session: remind to wind up conversation, make notes, and exchange business cards, etc.
    • Costs:
      • Mentors: Free and we will provide a drink voucher.
      • Mentees: Members $10; Non members $15.00; At door $20.00.
    • How to participate:
  • 6 Months Program
    • Both mentors and mentees can earn PDUs through mentorship program (self-reported. highlighted in yellow)
    • All mentors are invited to Alamo PMI Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
    • When
      • 2017 cycle (May - Nov.)
        • Recruit mentors & mentees: 1/15/2017 - 4/30/2017
        • Program initial meeting (all mentors and mentees are required to participate): 5/4/2017

        • Matches made: 5/5/2017 - 5/14/2017
        • Mentoring period: 5/15/2017 - 11/15/2017
        • Collect feedback and lessons-learned: 11/16/2017 - 11/30/2017
    • Format:
      • Small group mentoring (2-3 mentees per mentor)
      • Mentee driven - schedule meetings, share and track progress, create agendas, etc.
      • Time Commitment: at least 1 - 2 hours a month for 6 months
        • 1 face to face group meeting
        • 1 phone call/video chat
        • Consistent email communications
    • Costs:
      • Both mentors and mentees are FREE.

QUALIFICATION

  • Mentor: Current PMI Alamo chapter member with a valid PMI certification and have more than 5 years project management experience.
  • Mentee: Current PMI Alamo chapter member and is interested in learning more about project management.
